So we’ve kicked things off with a little of the WHY, so now I figure we best move into the juicy stuff and get down to the HOW of it all. By HOW I mean how do I indulge in my love of fashion without breaking the bank.
I NEVER pay full price for things if I can help it. It pains me…literally. I stress about it. I hate it. And I’ll tell you a secret: I get a little high from scoring a great deal. #drugfreeisthewaytobe #naturalhigh. K I’m done. But really-you work hard for your money, don’t waste a single penny.
Ready to find out my tried and true ways to save? Here goes…..
Honestly, duh. I am always scoping out the sales on all of my favorite brands. Of course right now I’m obsessed with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which is amazing and still happening for 4 more days-go check it out right now! (I won’t lie I’ve revisited this sale numerous times and ended up with WAY more bags than you see here)
It’s just so easy and obvious to sale shop, especially now that they let you sign up for these great email blasts letting you know when the sales are happening…..Which brings me to my next tip:
These are the best, because they allow you to get discounts on things even when there are no sales going on. They only require an email address and you rack up points every time you shop. *Pro tip: if you don’t like your inbox flooded with these emails all the time, create an email just for your rewards programs.)
My favorite Rewards Programs:
- Abercrombie & Fitch
SECOND HAND SITES
I think this is the big one that people fail to take advantage of.
These sites are so awesome because :
- You can find great deals on all types of things.
- You don’t have to spend hours searching through poorly lit, overcrowded, kinda funky (and not in a good way) thrift stores. There’s a beautiful feature on all of these sites that allows you to search for exactly what you’re looking for! It couldn’t get any easier! AND then the stuff shows up at your doorstep clean and in cute packaging because the gals selling are just like you and care about what they’re selling.
- You can make money selling your own clothes! I do this ALL of the time and love it. I even have a rule that I only get to spend what I make on these sites, which helps to keep me in check in terms of spending and closet space (constant struggle am I right?)
Next question: what are these fabulous sites you keep referencing?
I am a die hard Poshmark girl, but there are lots of other equally as good sites, including Mercari and Vinted and don’t forget about the infamous EBAY It simply depends on your preference in things like layout, who pays shipping, photo capabilities, etc. Try them out and see what you like.
Do Your Research
Before buying anything, especially that’s not already on sale or a screaming good deal, I make sure I do my research. I hit up my sale sites, check my rewards totals, and search my second hand sites (there are always brand new items on sale that are currently sold in stores) to make sure I’m getting the best deal.
Yes, it may take some time, but if you’re truly looking to save or are on a tight budget, trust me it’s worth it. (and it’ll help you score that little rush I mentioned earlier)
So obvious, right? Right? So tell me why you aren’t doing all of these. It’s never too late to start!
